Mercedes Benz you are recalling 324 examples of your EQC Mid-size electric SUV due to a faulty wiring harness for the steering control unit.

This recall only affects certain EQC400 4Matic models sold from 2019 to 2021.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the steering control unit harness may be damaged,” the company says in its recall notice.

“The damage can allow water or moisture to enter the wiring harness, which can cause a short circuit resulting in the loss of electric power steering.

“This can increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders.”

If you own one of the affected vehicles, you will need to contact your nearest Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free inspection and have it fixed if necessary.

If you have any further questions or concerns, you can contact the Mercedes-Benz Customer Service Center at 1300300896.
