Russia is ‘being aggressive and provocative’ with anti-satellite weapons test

ASPI senior analyst Dr. Malcolm Davis says Russia’s anti-satellite weapons test is “another indication that we have to be concerned about Russia and China.”

The antisatellite weapon was aimed at the defunct Russian satellite Kosmos 1408, breaking it into thousands of pieces, some of which threatened to hit the International Space Station.

Dr. Davis said he does not believe there is “a direct link” between this test and the tensions on the border with Ukraine, but the “perception will be that Russia is behaving belligerently.”

“I think the perception will be once again, this is another indication that Russia is essentially putting its full weight on and being aggressive and provocative,” he told Sky News Australia.
