Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates suffered a broken left leg in the first quarter of his team’s game Thursday night against Washington.
Gates was injured when he fell to the ground while blocking the pass. The injury was so gruesome that the NFL Network refused to show a replay.

Gates had a cast on his left leg before being taken to the locker room. The veteran smiled at times as he greeted fans cheering him on in support.
The fracture was diagnosed shortly after.

Gates, 25, is in his fourth season in the NFL after the Giants signed an undrafted free agent from Nebraska in 2018. He missed the 2018 season due to a preseason foot injury.
He has started as a center, right guard and right tackle throughout his career, and was on guard Thursday night.

He is in the final year of a two-year contract extension he signed with the Giants in 2020.
