Winger Matty Ashton, who scored a try hat-trick in Warrington’s 40-24 win over Castleford on Thursday night, signed a new three-year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of 2024.
The 23-year-old has scored 15 attempts in 21 appearances since joining the Wolves from Swinton on a two-year deal before the 2020 season.
“I’m over the moon to have my future sorted out,” Ashton said.
“It has been a difficult couple of years with injuries, but the club has stood by my side and put their faith in me, which I am looking forward to returning now with some good performances over the next few years.
“It is a dream come true to play at the highest level, especially for a club like Warrington. Signing another three years is a bit surreal yet and has not fully taken in yet.
“I want to cement my place in the team now, be a regular starter and hopefully help the guys win trophies along the way.”
Warrington CEO Karl Fitzpatrick said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to tie Matty into a new long-term deal.
“From day one he has shown the correct attitude and attributes that a young player needs to make the move to the Super League to succeed.
“His hard work and dedication to improving his game every day is first class and he is one of the fastest and most exciting outside runners in the competition.”
