Following a 3-0 win against Leeds United at the weekend, Liverpool will look to build some momentum in Premier League and Cup competitions with some big games on the horizon over the next two weeks.
Along those lines, here’s a look at the latest Liverpool news and rumors through September 15, 2021.
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius turned down the chance to join Basel
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius had the opportunity to join Basel in the early summer but turned the opportunity down.
According to The Athletic, Karius had to accept a pay cut to join Basel, but he was not very interested. The German, instead, decided to stay at Anfield as the Basel loan and permanent offers were rejected.
Karius is not expected to participate this season unless Liverpool suffer a massive goalkeeping crisis. He is currently behind the duo of Caoimhín Kelleher and Adrian, and is the fourth goalkeeper chosen by the club.
The 28-year-old’s contract with Liverpool expires in the summer of 2022, and he is likely to leave as a free agent if the Reds don’t fire him in January.
Alisson says Liverpool want to win the Champions League again
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has admitted that his first Champions League clash against AC Milan will not be easy, but they have big ambitions this season.
The Reds were defeated by Real Madrid in the knockout stages of the competition last season and saw Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City battle it out in the final.
Liverpool have had a tough draw in the Champions League, but Alisson believes his team has enough quality to aim for another winning streak.
“I believe in my team, in my teammates and in our quality. They are a very tough opponent but we have our goals, our goals. First is to go through the next phase of the tournament, but obviously the biggest goal in the Champions League is to win, ”said Alisson.

Sorry for this Pascal. I think it’s wrong. But soon it will bypass bro and you’ll be back in no time breaking it again. Stay positive, ”Elliott responded.
