Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spinner Rashid Khan has revealed that the franchise will play every game in the second half of IPL 2021 as a final in its effort to reach the playoffs.
SRH had a forgettable run in the Indian stage of IPL 2021. They managed to win just one of their seven games and were last in the points table when the event was called off. In addition, they also had a change in the captaincy as David Warner was fired before what turned out to be SRH’s last game in the first half of IPL 2021.
Heading into the tournament leg in the United Arab Emirates, Rashid Khan stated that the team is united and will do everything possible to try to win every match. He said in a video posted on SRH’s official Twitter account:
“I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the season. We did not have the ideal first half during the competition in India, but we are united and we seek to take each match as a final for ourselves and give 100 percent. ”
Rashid Khan added that he is confident of doing well in the UAE, having tasted success on The Hundred and The Vitality Blast. The leg spinner added:
“I am very happy to be back with the boys and I am looking forward to the rest of the season being played here in the United Arab Emirates. I’m pretty sure, as I had good games on The Hundred and The Vitality Blast. So we are looking forward to the games and we want to finish well. ”
Rashid Khan was among the few bright spots for SRH in the first half of IPL 2021. He claimed 10 wickets in seven games with a 16.80 strike rate and an excellent 6.14 economy rate.
I’ve been working on my hitting for the last year and a half: Rashid Khan
The 22-year-old hit a sensational 27 without nine balls, playing for Sussex against Yorkshire, at the Vitality Blast last month. Rashid Khan fired three-fours and two-sixes during his innings and also fired an MS Dhoni-style helicopter shot.
The SRH cricketer admitted that he is working hard to hone his will skills as he understands its importance. Rashid Khan explained:
“Since the last year and a half, I have been working on my hitting. When the team needs 20-25 runs at the end, they are very crucial for the team. When pursuing too, these careers are important. So I’m trying my best to do different things. I have not practiced much different shots in the nets. It’s just about the mindset. Wherever the ball hits, I want to do my best to finish well and use my wrists. ”
On the challenge of playing in the UAE, he expressed confidence that he will be able to adapt as he has the experience of playing here. Rashid Khan concluded:
“We have played enough matches in the UAE and we know the conditions very well. Before going to the UK, I played here. I think it is not necessary to change much. It’s all about the mindset and what areas are good for bowling on these grounds. You have to bowl according to the conditions and situations. I have the confidence in myself and the confidence to fulfill the team. “
The talented leg-spinner has 85 scalps to his name in 69 IPL matches with a strike rate of 19.34 and an economy rate of 6.23.
