Apple’s new family of iPhone 13s went up for preorder on Friday morning at 8am ET. But since then, buyers have reported problems trying to buy the new phones with the Apple Card. There are enough customers who have problems and you quickly became one of the trending topics on Twitter.
The Apple Card was introduced in 2019 and allows people to buy Apple products with up to 3% cash back. That means it’s used by Apple’s biggest fans, and many of them are trying to order the new iPhone for launch day next week.
Shipping estimates for Apple’s more expensive iPhone 13 Pro models have already started arriving in October, a week or more after the September 24 release date.
Buyers can still buy the new iPhones if they use another credit card. But it’s strange that Apple’s own payment option doesn’t work on its biggest launch day of the year.
Sometimes systems get overloaded and fixed quickly, but the problem seems to continue an hour and a half after the new iPhones went on sale.
An Apple spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
