West Indies superstars Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Fabian Allen and Zimbabwean legend Andy Flower have landed in the United Arab Emirates for the second phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Caribbean trio will represent the Punjab Kings, while Flower will be the alternate for head coach Anil Kumble.
Punjab Kings posted photos of their arrival in the UAE on social media platforms.

Gayle and Allen are coming off a successful Caribbean Premier League (CPL) campaign with the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The Patriots defeated the St. Lucia Kings in what turned out to be an exciting last-ball spike. Flower was the head coach of the Kings.
Punjab Kings will resume their 2021 IPL campaign against the Rajasthan Royals in Dubai on September 22.
Can Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran turn up the heat for the Punjab Kings in the second leg of the 2021 IPL?
The Kings will wait for the likes of Gayle and Pooran to kick off in the second phase of IPL 2021.
The duo were colorless on the India stage and their disappointing performances contributed to Punjab’s current position on the points table. KL Rahul’s unit ranks sixth in the table after achieving just three wins from eight matches.
Gayle, who ranked third in the tournament, had just 178 runs in eight innings with an average of 25.42 and a strike rate of 133.83. The “Boss of the Universe” will be looking to turn his luck in the UAE stage of IPL 2021 after a bad CPL campaign as well. Gayle only had 165 runs in nine innings with an average of 18.33 and a strike rate of 128.90.
Pooran, on the other hand, had a forgettable season in the IPL earlier this year. In seven games, he managed just 28 runs, including four ducks, with a 4.66 average. He was finally eliminated for the eighth game.
Since then, the southpaw has regained his form. He played a crucial role in the West Indies T20I series win against Australia earlier this year and backed it up with a decent start in the CPL.
The southpaw finished the tournament as the top scorer for the Guyana Amazon Warriors runs. In 10 innings, he scored 263 runs with an average of 32.87 and a hit rate of 163.25.
The spinning bowling all-rounder Allen scored 137 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 139.24 in addition to claiming nine wickets at 29.22 in the recently concluded CPL. However, he appeared in only a couple of games during the first leg of IPL 2021.
