As organizations continue to struggle to maximize storage utilization and optimize analysis of massive amounts of data, Microsoft is increasing its focus on the “high promise of quantum technology,” Daniel Stocker, technology program manager, told VentureBeat. Azure Quantum.

Microsoft singles out three customers that it says have seen significant results from Azure Quantum.

  • Trimble It uses Azure Quantum to find the most efficient routes for a fleet of vehicles, seeking to ensure there are fewer empty trucks and maximizing its operational load for each trip.
  • OTI Lumionics is accelerating material design with quantum-inspired optimization solutions designed to simulate organic materials used in OLED displays for next-generation consumer electronics design.
  • ford partnered with Azure Quantum to create a QIO-based traffic optimization solution that is designed to reduce both traffic congestion and travel time by offering optimized routing to thousands of drivers simultaneously. Preliminary studies show a more than 70 percent decrease in congestion, as well as an 8 percent reduction in average travel time, according to the automaker.
